Pet Portraits with a Purpose.

Picture
Boston, Australian Shepherd, 8x10 Color

Honor your special animal family member with a beautiful hand drawn portrait. Provide a photo and an original piece of artwork will be created from scratch. Every piece is drawn by hand (no tracing or transferring of photography) and created with a combination of colored pencil and graphite drawing materials. The option for traditional greyscale drawings in pure graphite is also available. All drawing materials used are archival quality.

For each piece that is portrayed, I will donate 15% of the profits to an animal rescue of your choice.
If you do not have a rescue in mind this portion will be donated to Best Friends Sanctuary.

How to pick a photo.

A good photo is half the battle in composing a great portrait. Here are some guidelines to picking out the perfect picture:
  • Lighting is important. Photos taken by daylight and without flash capture the most accurate colors. If your photo is taken indoors try to make sure it's by a window with daylight and without flash photography if possible.
  • Take the photo at eye level with your pet. Photos taken from above, below, too close or too far away can distort the proportions which won't always look good in a portrait.
  • Make sure it's a high resolution photo and in focus. The higher resolution the better I can see all the important details.
  • Best position is a three quarter view especially when composing a simple head and chest portrait.
  • The eyes are very important! The better I can see the eyes, the better I can capture the character.
  • If you have a nice photo that doesn't meet all the criteria please don't hesitate sending it to me. I will determine whether or not I can work with it.  This is also applicable for older photography of beloved pets that have crossed the rainbow bridge.

If you have any questions about the quality of your photos please don't hesitate to reach out and inquire if they are workable. I understand many times there are circumstances that you would not have the "perfect" photograph at your disposal. I want to work with you to make a piece of art that you can enjoy for years to come.
